The best news out of Placencia is Franco's Restaurant at Luba Hati Hotel. Franco Gentile, co-owner of the resort, has long had a dream of opening his own restaurant and today's reality is a treat for hotel guests and non-guests alike. |

| In anticipation of operating a full-scale restaurant, Franco, a native of Italy, designed and built a professional kitchen that produces fine Mediterranean cuisine. The dining room is equally well-designed, carrying out the European theme of the building, with large doors opening onto the terrace and gardens. The candle lit ambience is lovely for special occasions, or to make an occasion special, and the service staff is particularly attentive. |
The lunch menu is served from noon to five
p.m., and includes a selection of unique salads, made with chicken, shrimp
or grilled vegetables ($9.50 - $12); a variety of pizzas, such as Primavera
(fresh vegetables), Margherita (tomato, basil, mozzarella) or Sausage and
Pepper ($11.50 - $15); and sandwiches ($9). |
The dinner menu is predominantly Italian, with an Eggplant Parmigiana appetizer ($5*), along with soups; several pasta dishes (from $9.50 to $15.50); and main courses such as Lobster with garlic butter ($20.50) and Chicken Breast with Balsamic Sauce ($15.50). As pasta lovers, we thoroughly enjoyed the piquant Linguine Puttanesca and the highly aromatic Linguine Aglio, Olio and Peperoncino (garlic, olive oil and red pepper). The meal was perfectly topped off with a dessert of Lime Pie. Franco also presents a respectable wine list to complement any of his presentations. If you're staying at Luba Hati, there's no need to venture
elsewhere, and if your staying elsewhere, be sure to venture out at least
once-to Franco's. Franco's Restaurant, Luba Hati Hotel, Point Placencia. |
